Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor were in the Capital today (11th January, 2017) to promote their upcoming film ‘OK Jaanu’ which is releasing on 13th January, 2017. This is a remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’. OK Jaanu is produced by Mani Ratnam and Karan Johar under their respective banners Madras Talkies and Dharma Productions. Shaadi Ali has directed this film. Music is composed by Rahman. Gulzar has written the dialogues as well as lyrics for songs. Naseeruddin Shah and Leela Sampson also star in the film in supporting roles.
Aditya and Shraddha had some warm conversations. On being asked about how comfortable they are with Delhi winters, both of them expressed their joy in getting opportunities to use winter garments, which otherwise they hardly use in Mumbai.
When asked about why such a title for the film – ‘OK Jaanu’ – Shraddha promptly asked the media, haven’t they called their lover as ‘Jaanu’. People did respond with ‘yes’, and then both Aditya and Shraddha added that they were sure, after the film’s release, more people will address their lover as Jaanu.
Shraddha was asked about demonetization hitting her Rock on 2, she very honestly responded that indeed it did give her pain. But she is hopeful that OK Jaanu would do well.
On being asked about whether there is any change in Aditya and Shraddha since their Aashiqui 2 days, Aditya did mention that there is no change in Sharddha, it is just that she is more busy these days and has done more films than him. Shraddha mentioned about Aditya’s focused preparation for any role which he picks up and also said that the only change in Aditya since Aashiqui 2 days is his hair.
When asked about whether they feel that marriage is a passé, both of them denied and said that they believe in the institution of marriage. Next tricky thing which was promptly asked was whether they are open about Live in Relationship, they did say ‘yes’ provided they get a good partner. Also, they mentioned that Mani Ratnam has kept the Indian Values intact in the film. It is just that both the perspectives of long-term marriage and modern live-in relationship are shown in the film. The film is not promoting live-in relationship as such. It talks about love in a relationship.
Shraddha did express that she was very excited to do the remix version of ‘Hamma Hamma’ in this film especially because she used to dance in front of the mirror as a little girl on this song.
When asked about any special memories attached with the film, Shraddha mentioned that they shot the film in 40 days, which was simply amazing.
On being asked about their experience of working with legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam, they said that unfortunately, they had yet to meet Mani Ratnam in person. Aditya was glad to know that Mani Ratnam Sir appreciated the film. Both Aditya and Shraddha were excited about their meeting with Mani Ratnam and Rahman by the evening.
O Kadhal Kanmani (OK Kanmani) in Tamil and its Telugu dubbed version ‘OK Bangaram’ was a huge box-office success. Now, it is to be seen whether ‘Ok Jaanu’ replicates the success in Bollywood Box-office.
OK Jaanu releases on 13th January, 2017.
